Different Approaches to Weight Loss, Better Results

Our country is the most obese it has ever been, with over 65% of Americans living their lives overweight. The U.S. is reaching record rates for diabetes and heart disease, as well as a multitude of other health disorders. Obviously, something in our approach to weight loss is not working.

As co-founder of TRU Health & Wellness, and as an experienced consultant and trainer in the fitness industry, I have found that there are fundamental obstacles that prohibit or impeded progress in weight loss. With the right guidance and knowledge, even the most challenging of weight loss goals can be achieved.
Weight Loss Obstacle #1
Following a nutrition program that doesn’t optimize your metabolism.

People usually believe that one diet is best for them. There is a new diet promising every time your turn around. Most diet ads show someone losing significant weight and many people make the logical assumption that “if it works for them, it will work for me.”
Nutrition is not that simple. There is no diet that works well for everyone, no matter how convincing the advertisement. Your metabolism is unique to you, like your fingerprint, and the best weight loss diet is the one that aligns with your metabolism and makes the most of your body’s natural functioning.
Weight Loss Obstacle #2
Following an exercise program that doesn’t bring your body into muscular and structural balance.
This is easily the biggest obstacle in the field of exercise. Ironically, it is so widespread that most people never realize it’s even an obstacle. In the same sense that you need to rebalance your metabolism by eating foods that align with it, you also need to exercise in a way that brings balance to the muscular and structural systems of your body.
In order to reach your weight loss goal, there’s a certain amount of effort you will need to put into your program. If your body is out of balance, like most people’s, your body will not have the capacity to expend energy.
This is why most people will see some initial progress when they begin exercising for weight loss, and then they plateau. When this occurs, people will either (1) push themselves harder and hurt themselves, (2) keep doing the same thing for years, seeing no progress or (3) give up and/or try something new.
When people come to TRU Health & Wellness with weight loss goals, there are going to be some pitfalls they can come upon, if they don’t get the proper guidance. For this reason, our facility takes these goals very seriously and carries out extensive physical assessments for each client. This helps us to individualize their exercise programs and avoid one of the aforementioned obstacles. Additionally, TRU performs a Metabolic Nutrition Test on clients before recommending any dietary changes, to ensure each client’s proper nutrition. This helps us determine which foods will bring their metabolism into balance and which ones won’t.
It’s all about balance – bringing balance to their metabolism and bringing balance to their physical bodies. If you are following advice that isn’t bringing your body into balance, goals are going to be extremely difficult to achieve.
Because each of our bodies function and react differently, following a program that is tailored to your body will help you reach your weight loss goals, while avoiding the frustration and disappointment that comes with inconsistent results.
