Yamaha Selects TwonkyMedia Server to Power MusicCAST2 Home Audio Product Line
Wednesday, July 01, 2009
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PacketVideo (PV) announced today that Yamaha Corporation has selected PV’s award-winning TwonkyMedia™ server software to enable the seamless sharing of digital music content on its new line of home audio products named MusicCAST2, which includes the new MCX-RC100 Network Music Commander and compatible MCX-A300 and MCX-P200 Network Music Players. All models are currently available in stores in the United States.
A TwonkyMedia server software license key will be bundled with the MCX-RC100 Network Music Commander device, enabling users to download the software directly from the Yamaha Web site. Once the software is installed, the MCX-RC100 can be used as the ultimate remote control of digital audio assets, enabling users to stream music files to the Yamaha MCX-A300 and MCX-P200 Network Music Players wherever they are located throughout the home.
Many Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified products are powered by TwonkyMedia. TwonkyMedia server ensures that users can access, share and enjoy their music files on a wide range of DLNA-compatible devices, as well as dozens of additional devices that don’t support DLNA standards. The software can be customized for companies such as Yamaha. TwonkyMedia server provides users the power to enjoy a broad range of file formats – including MP3, WMA, AAC, FLAC and WAV – without negatively influencing network performance. TwonkyMedia server is also compatible with iTunes®, providing a one-solution-fits-all approach to streaming and enjoying even the largest of digital music collections.
“Yamaha selected TwonkyMedia server to power digital music streaming on our new home audio product line based on its synergy with popular music services such as iTunes, and its hassle-free interoperability with compatible Yamaha music players such as the new MCX-A300 and MCX-P200,” said Sadayuki Narusawa, department manager, Products Development Department, AV Products Division, Yamaha. “We’re pleased to partner with PV, who we recognize as the industry leader in enabling seamless media sharing on a variety of devices throughout the home.”
MusicCAST2 is a convenient, flexible, expandable way to stream music wirelessly to every room of the home. Users can connect their PCs to listen to music files, Internet Radio and the Rhapsody music service, with iPod docking, a USB port and Bluetooth compatibility. It also becomes a wireless network system that enables consumers to use DLNA-compliant devices and NAS (Network-Attached Storage) devices via WiFi. MusicCAST2 supports up to 32 network music players throughout the home, as well as 16 PCs.
“By bundling TwonkyMedia server with Yamaha’s impressive new home audio line, users will experience the ability to stream music throughout their home using the MCX-RC100 as the ultimate remote control, said Kazunori Takagi, president of PV Japan. “We’re partnering with Yamaha to remove traditional barriers associated with streaming music to multiple devices, while bringing more enjoyment to the way music can be shared and enjoyed throughout the home. We are opening up a new, very powerful world of possibilities to consumers.”
